How to Sell Your Clothes & Make Money On Poshmark

Happy Friday! Today is also Juneteeth and it's a holiday that celebrates the abolishment of slavery. You can check out many resources and petitions to support the #BlackLivesMatter movement for free here: #BLM RESOURCES

Now you may not be familiar with the app Poshmark but it's basically an online thrift store where you can sell clothes, shoes, toys, home decor, and much more. I have made over $500 on the app and I want to share my tips and tricks on running a successful closet. I am also a Posh Campus Rep this semester so I will be learning more about the app and will continue to share more tips on Instagram. Make sure you're following me on Instagram @stayklassay to get these updates.

What should I sell on Poshmark?
I suggest selling used clothing at the beginning. If you haven't cleaned out your closet yet you can check out my closet cleanout post or I am offering style sessions with Macy's this summer via Zoom and you can sign up for the closet cleanout session. Make sure your clothes are clean and not wrinkled. Many people are online shopping right now due to store closures so clothing is a great way to make money fast on the app. I haven't sold any other items besides clothing but other users do and it's been successful for them.

How to sign up?
You just need to download the Poshmark app on the App Store and make an account. If you use my invite code KLASSAYFINDS you will get a $10 Poshmark credit. You can use your own name or create a unique name for your closet. Once you create your profile, you will need to start taking photos of the listings.

How do I take my photos?
Photos are the most crucial part because this will draw customers to your closet. I like to have a simple background and good lighting for my photos. I have taken most of my photos against a plain wall or my white rug. It's important to take multiple photos of an item and notate any issues with the item as well. People can rate your products and if you sell bad products then you will have a bad Poshmark status.

How to be a five-Star Posher?
You want to be a closet that people want to shop at and follow. It's easy to get followers on the app because the algorithm shares your items with multiple people. It's important to share your items at Posh parties because it will highlight your items for a potential sale. You want to make sure you share other poshers items as well because they will share your items with their followers too. Please respond to comments because great communication can lead to sales. The packaging is also important and I will talk about that next.

How should I package the items?
The great thing about Poshmark is that the customers pay for shipping and they use the USPS Priority Mail system. I have a printer at home so I just print out the labels once an order sells. USPS offers free packaging for priority mail and you can get it mailed to your home or pick it up at your local Post Office. I usually wrap my the clothing pieces in tissue paper and place them in the box. I also include a personalized thank you card and business card. Making personalized packaging is special for the customer and can increase your rating as well. Once your done packing an item, you can either schedule a mail pick up from USPS and they will pick up the package or you can drop it off at your local USPS. How do I make money?
The great thing about Poshmark is that you can set the price. Poshmark does take a little commission so if you want a certain price for the item than list it for a little more. Poshmark takes $2.05 on listings that are $15 and under and 20% commission on listings of $15 and more. Once a customer receives their order they will rate it and you will get your money. If for some reason they don't rate it, Poshmark will release your funds after three days. Customers also cannot return items so your money is guaranteed. You can request a check in the mail but if you have a bank account then direct deposit is the way to go. You can request to redeem your money at any amount and it reflects in your bank account in less than three days.

How can I shop at the Stay Klassay closet?
My closet can be found with the username @klassayfinds. I sell gently used clothing and cute clothes I find when shopping. The sizes range from XS-3X because I want to cater to many sizes and styles. I update listings weekly with amazing name brands so make sure to follow me so you don't miss out.

We just hit 1000 followers so thank you all for your support!

That is a wrap for my Poshmark guide. If you have any other questions feel free to ask them in the comments or message me on Instagram. Make that money during quarantine and it can turn into a successful side hustle for you as well. Share your closets with me because I would love to check them out and follow them. I hope you have an amazing weekend and I will see you next week with a brand new post.
