Clothing You Should Have Left in 2017

Happy first Friday of the month! I can't believe winter break is almost over and then it's back to the grind. Over the past couple of days, I have been able to clean out my entire wardrobe to make it nice and fresh for 2018. After cleaning out all of my clothes, shoes, and purses, I filled up over four trash bags to giveaway. I didn't realize how much stuff I didn't fit or use until I examined each piece separately. My closet was also very cluttered and I couldn't fit any more clothing in it which was very frustrating. Maybe soon I will make a video of a closet tour to see how it turned out? The feeling of new and clean is always amazing and I want you all to feel the same. Below I have listed a guideline that explains: What to get rid of in your closet? and How to clean out your closet?

How to Clean Out Your Closet?

Okay, there are many ways you can approach this task but it can be very messy and make you become really stressed. I have a strategy that I used that made my closet look very organized in a very efficient way. Before using this strategy I suggest sorting out clothes between jackets, pants, shorts, shirts, and then dresses.

Clothing

  1.  Take out clothes in your closet one group at a time (groups from the paragraph above) and make two separate piles of giveaways and clothes your keeping. Toss the giveaways in a trash bag and throw extra hanger's on the floor
  2. Repeat these steps for all types of groups
  3. Then regroup the clothing and put it back in your closet
    1. I organized my closet as so: cardigans, hoodies, jackets, short skirts, shorts, jeans, pants, long skirts, tank tops, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, rompers, dresses, and last but not least formal dresses.

Shoes

  1. Take out all of your shoes wherever they are and throw them all on the floor
  2. Get rid of any shoes that don't fit or you don't wear and put those in a trash bag
  3. Then match them up by pairs and organize them by their own category again
    1. I organized my shoes as so: house shoes, sandals, flats, slip ons, sneakers (by brand), heels, and boots

Purses

  1. Take all your purses and lie them on your bed to not make them dirty
  2. Sort them by types of purses or the use of them
    1. I organized my purses as so: big purses, shoulder and cross-body bags, bags of bags, book bags, beach bags, and a basket full of wallets and clothing accessories
    2. I also got an over the door rack and put it on a closet shelf to put my scarves and belts

Things To Get Rid Of In Your Closet

As shown in my directions above you might have already been able to tell what items to get rid of but I made a checklist just in case!

  • Items that don't fit
  • Items that you don't wear
  • Items with a price tag (if you obviously aren't planning to wear it)
  • If you have double of any item
  • If you have outgrown something in maturity or personality
  • Things that have no use
Remember there are people who don't have anything and will be so grateful for any items you giveaway. It's a win-win for both of you because you end up with a fresh wardrobe and someone gets to build up their own. I giveaway stuff to goodwill or individuals who personally ask for the clothing out of need. Start 2018 doing good and giving back and see your year blossom with many blessings. Have an amazing Friday and I hope you will all be inspired to complete this task!
